Police report lodged against Sanusi for allegedly insulting Selangor Sultan

PETALING JAYA: A police report has been lodged against Kedah Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor for allegedly insulting Selangor Ruler Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah.

The report was lodged by Shah Alam PKR information chief Suryamuizzudin Kamaruddin at the Seksyen 9 police station alleging that Muhammad Sanusi had undermined the Selangor Sultan in a Perikatan Nasional ceramah recently.

"Muhammad Sanusi's speech was uploaded on many social media channels such as YouTube, TikTok, Facebook and Twitter. It (the speech) clearly undermined the Selangor Sultan's wisdom in appointing the Selangor mentri besar," said Suryamuizzudin.

He said the upcoming Aug 12 state polls are approaching but politicians should not use ceramah to propagate attacks and insults against or harass the royal institution, which includes the prerogative of the Sultan.

Suryamuizzudin urged authorities to immediately investigate the matter.

"Shah Alam PKR supports the stance of the government to address those manipulating 3R issues involving royalty, race and religion for political purposes.

"This country cannot be destroyed due to divisive politics," said Suryamuizzudin.

In a video making its rounds on social media, Muhammad Sanusi appears to have belittled the appointment of Selangor Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari.
